Today we’re excited to announce the availability of Medialets Universal SDK 2.5, our biggest release to date. With Medialets’ new SDK, we’re offering new creative capabilities and ad formats, serving and tracking enhancements and, importantly, support for third-party rich media ads. These new features and capabilities are designed to make mobile advertising easier and more effective to scale.

A summary of 2.5 features follow.

Third-Party Rich Media Support

Medialets Universal SDK for iOS 2.5 unlocks new revenue opportunities for publishers by enabling campaigns from third-party rich media providers. This new capability eliminates the need for multiple SDKs, saving time and effort for developers and ad operations. Participating vendors, with more to come, include:

This is a big step forward for the premium advertising and publishing space in mobile as it opens the largest set of premium ad inventory to any certified third-party ad server. That means more choice for advertisers and less friction throughout the ecosystem as a key technical barrier has just been removed.

New Creative Ad Capabilities

A full range of industry-leading creative capabilities are available with Medialets Universal SDK 2.5. The industry’s most seamless social media sharing, email Email and SMS, Add-to-Calendar (with Reminders) and Embedded Maps offer deeper engagement for consumers and drive audiences further down the funnel.

Expandable ads get smarter, too, giving complete control over what expands, when and where. This flexibility drives maximum ROI on campaigns and reduces the time and effort involved in managing multiple versions of creatives.

New Ad Formats

Medialets Growables allow for seamless expansion of complex rich files, like animations and video. Growables are built from one HTML5 file, where one part of the file displays initially and then, upon user action, expands to reveal the full file. This differs from previous Medialets Expandables in that, with Growables, the expanded portion of the ad appears to grow out of the original banner rather than having a separate view slide over the entire screen from the bottom.

Separately, the new Medialets Audio ad format makes it possible to deliver audio ads with or without an on-screen component while an app is backgrounded, a use case common for radio or music apps.

Serving & Tracking Enhancements

“No ad” responses, dynamic click and impression urls, better support for deep linking between applications (e.g. launch to a Fandango movie detail page within the Fandango app from an ad running in another app), and other performance optimizations are part of 2.5′s serving and tracking enhancements that reduce administrative tasks for campaigns.
