Earlier this week, the IAB unveiled its initiative to define an industry-standard creative API, called MRAID (Mobile Richmedia Ad Interface Definitions).
MRAID is a standardized set of JavaScript interfaces that creative developers writing rich ads will use to communicate what those ads do (expand, resize, get access to device functionalities such as the accelerometer, etc) to the apps into which they are being served. By establishing a standard set of commands for mobile rich media, MRAID makes it easier for both the buy and sell side to deliver campaigns that run across different apps and platforms.
The goal of the IAB’s MRAID is directly aligned with Medialets’ mission to scale rich media advertising in mobile and beyond. That’s why Medialets is working closely with the IAB to bring the benefits of our unmatched experience creating and delivering thousands of mobile rich media campaigns over the past three years to the IAB’s initiative
Though MRAID is currently a work in progress, Medialets’ collaboration with the IAB on the MRAID specification will ensure seamless MRAID support for the many premium publishers enabled with Medialets iPhone, iPad and Android SDKs.
MRAID will be beneficial to the industry. We’re happy to contribute to the IAB’s efforts to make mobile advertising easier, and look forward to supporting the industry-standard API in our iPhone, iPad and Android SDKs.
